The girl in the picture is at the highest point in swinging and starts to come down. Which statement best describes the changes
SpyIntel [72]

When she descends the potential energy will decrease at the same rate that the kinetic energy increases.

<h3></h3><h3>How to describe changes in energy?</h3>

We know that we can write the total energy of a moving object as:

E = U + K

Where U is the potential energy and K is the kinetic energy.

In the given case, U will only depend on the height of the girl and it will be maximized when the height is maximum.

K = (1/2)*m*v^2

where m is the mass and v is the velocity.

When the girl is at the highest point, the velocity becomes equal to zero. This happens because at that point she stops going up and starts going down, so the velocity must be zero at that moment.

Then we have K = 0.

E = U.

As she starts going down, the velocity starts increasing and the height decreases, thus, the kinetic energy increases and the potential energy decreases. This relates to the conservation of energy. E will always be the same value, but K and U will depend on the position of the girl.

This means that if the potential energy decreases a quantity e', then the kinetic energy must be increased by that same amount.

To compare the average amount of time that canadians and americans spend commuting, a researcher collects a sample of canadians
yKpoI14uk [10]

The standard error of the difference of sample means is 0.444

From the complete question, we have the following parameters

<u>Canadians</u>

  • Sample size = 50
  • Mean = 4.6
  • Standard deviation = 2.9

<u>Americans</u>

  • Sample size = 60
  • Mean = 5.2
  • Standard deviation = 1.3

The standard error of a sample is the quotient of the standard deviation and the square root of the sample size.

This is represented as:

SE = \frac{\sigma}{\sqrt n}

The standard error of the Canadian sample is:

SE_1 = \frac{2.9}{\sqrt{50}}

So, we have:

SE_1 = 0.41

The standard error of the American sample is:

SE_2 = \frac{1.3}{\sqrt{60}}

So, we have:

SE_2 = 0.17

The standard error of the difference of sample means is then calculated as:

SE= \sqrt{SE_1^2 + SE_2^2}

This gives

SE= \sqrt{0.41^2 + 0.17^2}

SE= \sqrt{0.197}

Take square roots

SE= 0.444

Hence, the standard error of the difference of sample means is 0.444
