Histamine is a chemical substance released in inflammatory and allergic responses. The histamine H1 receptor on target cells is

a G protein-coupled receptor that activates phospholipase C in response to the binding of histamine. Which statements are true about the binding of histamine to the histamine H1 receptor? Select all that apply.
a. Histamine binds extracellularly to the H1 receptor.
b. When histamine binds to the H1 receptor, the receptor undergoes a conformation change and binds the inactive G protein.
c. Once the G protein is active, it binds to the enzyme phospholipase C, activating it.
d. Histamine is likely hydrophilic.

Answer:

All of the above statements are right regarding histamine binding with H1 receptor.

Explanation:

Histamine when comes in contact with a cell that it targeted, it started binding extracellular with its receptor H1. This binding leads to a change in the receptor’s shape. After the change occurs in the receptor, the G protein is allowed to bind with H1.

The GDP molecule is then displaced with GTP and activates the protein G. It then binds to the enzyme C and this enzyme causes a response from the cell. It is also hydrophilic.

Shtirlitz [24]

Answer:

DNA makes us all unique by controlling the production of gene that make us look different and have the structures to better survive within our environment.

Explanation:

DNA is the molecule that contains the genetic information, dependent on the sequence of nucleotides that form its structure.

Chromosomes are formed by a DNA molecule, whose fragments form genes, structures that define every characteristic and function of a living being.

The characteristics expressed by the genes differentiate individuals of the same species and other species, allowing their functions, including survival in their environment.

How does the structure of the leaf allow it fulfil the requirements for gas exchange surface?
Tpy6a [65]

Explanation:

The structure of the leaf is adapted for gas exchange. The cells in the spongy mesophyll (lower layer) are loosely packed, and covered by a thin film of water. There are tiny pores, called stomata , in the surface of the leaf. Most of these are in the lower epidermis, away from the brightest sunlight.

The stomata control gas exchange in the leaf. Each stoma can be open or closed, depending on how turgid its guard cells are.

In the light, the guard cells absorb water by osmosis, become turgid and the stoma opens.

In the dark, the guard cells lose water, become flaccid and the stoma closes.

Diffusion of carbon dioxide, oxygen and water vapour into (or out of) the leaf is greatest when the stomata are open.
