Assonance is a literary device we found in a piece of writing when nearby words have the same, or similar, vowel sound. In order to use this device, such words do not have to start with a similar vowel or consonant sound. In the sentence, all the words "school," "duty," "to," "include," "food," "new" and "menu" have the same "ü" sound, therefore it is using assonance.
