Answer:

The beginning of “The Lottery” doesn’t seem very odd. The people seem relatively normal, the adults are working, yet there is a sense of uneasiness. It soon becomes clear that the “lottery” that keeps getting mentioned is what causes this sense of unease. Yet the reader is still unaware of what part of this lottery is making them uncomfortable, and it starts to become clear that winning the lottery is not a good thing. Slowly the reader puts together various pieces of the story, and it becomes clear what will happen: the winner of the lottery is stoned to death, supposedly to ensure a good harvest. The story becomes darker and darker as one realizes that no one really even knows the origin of the ritual and why it cannot be done away with. It becomes clear that “The Lottery” is a prime example of a dystopia, because propaganda is used to control the citizens, which leads to the freedom of information being heavily restricted. This happens to the point where citizens from different towns rarely speak with one another. One must question why this information is restricted (or rather, has it simply been forgotten?) how it came to be this way, and why the citizens don’t work to change it.

If you need hep with your citations, it is recommended you follow the MLA format rules, as this is will likely be your go-to for much of high school essay writing and the like.

Therefore, I suggest using a works cited list, which is more convenient compared to citing each individual line.

Harper Lee, the author, makes many observations about life and human nature through the
larisa [96]

Harper Lee shows in Atticus' speech how much the human being tends to be unfair, ignorant, and maintain a negative hierarchy between people.

What does Atticus emphasize in the final speech?

 • It shows how society is naturally racist.
 • He claims that this racism leads to injustice.
 • It shows how society is hierarchical.
 • It shows how everyone is affected by it.

Atticus' final speech occurs when he fails to defend an innocent man and deliver him from death, even with proof of his innocence. Given this fact, he shows that it is human nature to be unfair when it comes to situations involving people of low hierarchical levels in society.

This makes him point out that the human being is biased and that he ignores the truth if it doesn't benefit him.

According to the given question, the best way to avoid using colloquial terms or cliche words is by making them as simple and clear as possible

Colloquialism is the use of slangs to communicate with a person. This is not advisable when speaking in a formal setting.

Cliche is a word that is used to describe an idea, which has been overused by a lot of people.

As a result of this, words like "butterflies in my stomach", or being a "nervous Nellie" or "super nervous" are both colloquial and cliche words.

Therefore, the correct answer is option C

Henry's journey in The Red Badge of Courage is obviously a very complex one, and that it's difficult to fit into an 8 slide presentation, but you can certainly try! I think the thing it is most important to discuss is the fluctuation in his character development, from being terrified to confident, to being scared again, to finally overcoming his fears only to receive a terrible knockback. Make sure not to write as if his journey within the story was one smooth path.
