Put the value of M from eq 1 into eq 2

So, (J + 18) - 3 J = 10

Or, J - 3 J = 10 - 18

∴ J = $\dfrac{8}{2}$

i.e J = 4 years

So, The age of Joey = J = 4 years

Now, Put the value of J in eq 1

So, M = J + 18
