Explanation: In "The Most Dangerous Game", by Richard Connell, General Zaroff's defeat is caused by his own arrogance, because <u><em>he is tricked by Sanger Rainsford</em></u>. General Zaroff is a Cossack, who lives on Ship-Trap island. His most satisfying thrill is to hunt human beings. He is arrogant and sadist.  Rainsford makes him think that he has died and returns to Zaroff castle. When Zaroff enters Rainsford kills him.
