bearing in mind that 1Kg ≈ 2.2lbs.

so, if a baby is say 2.2lbs, and then it doubles in weight, to 4.4lbs.

well, we know when the baby was 2.2lbs it was exactly 1Kg, but when it went up to 4.4lbs, is it 2Kgs?  well, yes, 2Kgs = 2.2 + 2.2 or 2(2.2).

so, multiplying the lbs value by some factor, will retain the Kg:lbs ratio.

Which of the following is equal to the rational expression below when x≠4 x^2-16/x-4
LUCKY_DIMON [66]

Answer:

x + 4

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

\frac{x^2-16}{x-4} → x ≠ 4

Factor the difference of squares on the numerator

x² - 16

= x² - 4² = (x - 4)(x + 4), thus expression becomes

= \frac{(x-4)(x+4)}{x-4} ← cancel (x - 4) on numerator/ denominator

= x + 4

Use the following information to complete parts I, II, and III. 1 hour = 3,600 seconds 1 year = 31,556,952 seconds Part : Use sc
OLga [1]

I, We can estimate the number of hours in a year comparing the orders of magnitude of both (in seconds).

An hour has 3.6 * 10^3 seconds, and a year has approximately 3.2 * 10^7, so we can approximate the number of hours in a year as:

\frac{3.2\cdot10^7}{3.6\cdot10^3}\approx0.9\cdot10^{(7-3)}=0.9\cdot10^4=9\cdot10^3

II. We can calculate the exact value using all the numbers and calculating:

\frac{31,556,952}{3,600}=8,765=8.765\cdot10^3

III. In the first part we can approximate the value doing a manual or mental calculation with the digits (3.2/3.6) and substracting the exponents of the power of 10.

In the second case, we calculate the quotient with all the information and then transform the result into scientific notation.

The difference is in the precision of the digits when we do a mental estimation versus a complete calculation. But, we can be in the order of magnitude with not so much error because the most significant part is in the power of 10 and it is easier to calculate even manually.

in this triangle, the product of sin b and tan c is , and the product of sin c and tan b is . nextreset
Lubov Fominskaja [6]
The triangle is a right triangle with: 1) leg c opposed to angle C. 2) leg b opposed to angle B. 3) hypotenuse, a, opposed to angle A. So, using the definitions of the trigonometric ratios, you get: 1) sin C = opposite leg / hipotenuse = c / a. 2) tan B = opposite leg / adjacent leg = b / c => sin C * tan B = [c / a] * [b / c] = b / a. <span>Answer: b / a</span>
