China has a lower ecological footprint per capita than the United States, but it is ranked as having the highest total ecologica
Likurg_2 [28]

The ecological footprint is a general assessement of the population while the ecological footprint per capita means the ratio a country's per capita Footprint to the per capita biological capacity available on Earth.

What is an Ecological Footprint?

This is best defined as the impact of human activities which is measured in terms of the area of biologically productive land and water required to produce the goods consumed and to assimilate the wastes generated.

The importance of Ecological Footprint is due to the fact that it does measures the biologically productive area that are needed to provide for everything that people demand from nature such as fruits, vegetables, meat, fish, wood, cotton, fibres, as well as absorption of carbon dioxide from fossil fuel burning and space for buildings and road.

In essence, the ecological Footprint assess how fast or quick the people consume resources and generate waste compared to how fast nature can absorb our waste and generate resources.

Which of the following best describes how the author organizes the reasoning of his argument in the opening lines of the passage
Vilka [71]

Answer:

B. Tracing a sequence of events resulting in a positive outcome

Explanation:

Answer B

Correct. Writers frequently use certain recognizable approaches to develop and organize the reasoning of their arguments. In the opening lines of the passage, the author employs such a method of development when he traces a sequence of events that he believes have culminated in a positive outcome: the First World War happened; the war provided a cautionary example; world leaders have been trying to prevent another outbreak of war; in the end, they succeed in devising the “greatest preventive measures ever adopted by nations.” A method of development provides an audience with the means to trace a writer’s reasoning in an argument. In this case, the author’s approach to organizing his argument suggests that he understands recent peace preservation efforts in terms of a temporal chain of events—one in which each event is linked to the next by a causal logic.

If enough experimental data supports a hypothesis, then it:
aleksandr82 [10.1K]

Answer: C) Is accepted as true until proven false

==========================================================

Explanation:

We cannot prove the hypothesis to be 100% true because there might be data out there that we haven't accounted for, or some scenario that we haven't thought of yet. There's always going to be room for uncertainty and doubt. Keep in mind that such doubt does not necessarily mean that the theory is automatically false.

So all of this rules out choice A.

Choice B is ruled out as well because data supporting a hypothesis doesn't falsify the hypothesis. The term "falsify" means "to prove false" as you'd expect.

Choice C is the answer because the data seems to support the hypothesis and again we leave room for error. It's quite possible that in some unspecified date in the future, there are better methods of measurement to get a better sense of what's going on.

Choice D is ruled out because a law refers to something like the law of gravity. It's something you observe but it doesn't explain why something works. It doesn't provide the underlying mechanics of what's going on. We simply just report what we see which is exactly what an observation is.

A psychologist conducted a study at her home during an annual activity of children wearing masks and going door-to-door receivin
klasskru [66]

Graph is attached.

Answer:

a) The number of children who took extra candy can be said to be the operational definition of the dependent variable here.

(The dependent variable is defined as the variable that is tested by the experimenter. The outcome of dependent variable depends on the independent variable).

b) The psychologist hypotheses are :

H1 : The children would take more candy when they were alone.

H2: The children would take more candy when they were masked.

The data does not in anyway support the hypothesis 1 of the psychologist because from the graph the percentage of children who took candy when alone was low.

The data fully supports the hypothesis 2. From the graph we could denote the percentage of children who colected additional candy when masked was higher.

c) The findings cannot be generalized to all children because only children from the psychologist's neighborhood was used in the experiment.

d) This study is not a naturalistic behaviour because the psychologist is manipulating a variable. Therefore we cannot call this study a naturalistic behaviour.

e) Modeling: Here the children's behaviour may be influenced because they may try to imitate what other children did. A child may take additional candy because another chid took additional candy.

Deindividuation: In this case, the children may feel a loss of identity or anonymous because they are in group. They may take extra candy because they feel anonymous.

From the graph, we could see the percentage of children in group who took extra candy was higher than the percentage of chidren alone who took extra candy.

Lawrence Kohlberg’s preconventional stage: A child's behaviour may be influenced by his self interest to gain reward. This may make the child not collect extra candy.

This Lawrence Kohlberg’s preconventional stage may also influence the behaviour of the children as the children may also be afraid of punishment, which may result in them not collecting extra candy
