P = perimeter

L = length

W = width

Formula for the perimeter of a rectangle = L + L + W + W  or  P = 2L + 2W

You know:

P = 110ft

L = W + 5  [length is 5ft greater than the width]

So plug this into the formula:

P = 2L + 2W             Substitute/plug in (W + 5) for L

110 = 2(W + 5) + 2W           Distribute/multiply 2 into (W + 5)

110 = (2)W + (2)5 + 2W

110 = 2W + 10 + 2W       Combine like terms (2W + 2W)

110 = 4W + 10       Subtract 10 on both sides

110 - 10 = 4W + 10 - 10

100 = 4W     Divide 4 on both sides to get "W" by itself

\frac{100}{4}=\frac{4W}{4}

25 = W        Now that you know the width, plug it into the equation for length

L = W + 5       Plug in 25 for W

L = 25 + 5

L = 30

L = 30 ft

W = 25 ft

PROOF

P = 2L + 2W

110 = 2(30) + 2(25)

110 = 60 + 50

110 = 110

Rewrite the fractions so they have a common denominator:

1/2 = 3/6

The tank was at 1/6 so:

3/6 - 1/6 = 2/6 simplifies to 1/3 of gas was added by the 7 gallons

There are three 1/3's to a whole ( full tank).

7 x 3 = 21

The gas tank can hold 21 gallons.

The sum of three consecutive even integers is -60 . Find the numbers.
Alexus [3.1K]

Answer: -18, -20, -22

Step-by-step explanation:

The integers are obviously approximately equal to -20, since they cover only 5 numbers, and there are three of them and their sum is -60. So guess -18, -20, -22. That works.

10/9 can be rewritten as 1 1/9, so it's closest to 1. 2/15 is really small, so close to 0.

MAXImum [283]
Circumference = πD

π*49 = 153.94 (We can leave it as it is because there are two halves to the circle on either side of the training track)

81*2 = 162 (There are two 81 meter lines)

153.94+162 = 315.94m

The length of the training track is 315.94m

Hope this helps! :)
