the three american icons I´m going to write about are related with two famous president and an actor who I think have contributed to american cultural heritage.

The first one is George Washington who  became the first president of United States in 1789. Even during his life time Washington was called ‘father of his country’.Besides, many people praised his horseman ship and great physical strength. He is also known for his opposition to slavery.

The second one is Abraham Lincoln who was the 16th president of the United States, serving from 1861 until his assassination in 1865. Lincoln was from a poor family and was self educated. During his time as president he led the United States through the American Civil war, helped preserve the Union, abolished slavery, strengthened the national government and modernised the economy.

Unlikely the political icons mentioned above, another woman who is worth to mention in this essay is Marylin Monroe. Due to her biggest successes as an actor, Monroe has influenced  american scenarios. She received  a Golden Globe Award for The film Some like it Hot and became  a major sex symbol at that time.

Los iconos antes mencionados marcaron historia cada uno en su epoca. El primero comenzó con sus ideas de abolición a la esclavitud, mientras que el segundo siguió luchando por este mismo motivo. apartados un poco de la historia y en su papel de actriz Marylin Monroe sirvio de ejemplo a sus siguientes generaciones y hoy en dia en el mundo cultural encontramos actrices que desean imitarla.
