The correct answer is option B. The syllables of the word Araby were called to me through the silence in which my soul luxuriated and cast an Eastern enchantment over me. The young boy, who acts as the narrator of James Joyce's story, becomes infatuated with the sister of one of the boys in the neighborhood, Mangan's sister. When he finally is able to talk to her, she asks him if he plans to go to Araby. The excitement of this encounter takes him out of his mundane life.

Identify the underlined portion of the sentence below: Sylvia bought her mother a beautiful necklace on her birthday.
marusya05 [52]

Answer: indirect object

Explanation:

From the sentence "Sylvia bought her mother a beautiful necklace on her birthday", mother is an indirect object.

We can see that even though"mother" isn't the direct object which in this case is the necklace, she is the indirect object as the mother will be the one to receive the necklace. She is affected by the action that occurs in the sentence as she is the recipient.
