Answer:

The Articles of Confederation had only one branch, the Legislative Branch (Congress).  It did not have an Executive Branch (President).

Explanation:

Because the colonies had recently fought the American Revolution against their ruler, the King of England, they did not want to create a government that gave too much power to one person.  Their dislike of the King's power and control encouraged them to NOT have a single leader but a Legislative Branch.

Which answer best summarizes the purpose of the olive branch petition?
skad [1K]

Answer:

Among the options given on the question the correct answer is otion A.

It Was Written By The Colonists To Ask The King To Protect Their Rights And To Tell Him They Wanted Peace. It Was Rejected By The King.

Explanation: The Olive Branch petition was a petition adopted by the continental congress to the British king which was adopted on July 5,1775 and was signed three days later.

The purpose of the petition was to avoid the war between the thirteen American colonies and the British. This petition affirmed the American loyalty to the Great Britain and asked the King George III to protect the rights of colonists. They also wanted to avoid the war by affirming the loyalty to the British king. But the  British king rejected to read the letter and declared the proclamation of rebellion and announced the American colonies as the  rebellion states.

However, this rejection led the Continental congress of the colonies to announce for their independence.

Therefore, the answer is option A.

Following the Opium Was, what were the outcomes of the Treaty of Ninijing?
GaryK [48]

Answer:

Treaty of Nanjing, (August 29, 1842) treaty that ended the first Opium War, the first of the unequal treaties between China and foreign imperialist powers. China paid the British an indemnity, ceded the territory of Hong Kong, and agreed to establish a “fair and reasonable” tariff. British merchants, who had previously been allowed to trade only at Guangzhou (Canton), were now permitted to trade at five “treaty ports” and with whomever they pleased (see Canton system). The treaty was supplemented in 1843 by the British Supplementary Treaty of the Bogue, which allowed British citizens to be tried in British courts and granted Britain any rights in China that China might grant to other countries.
