Outside on the Verona street, Benvolio and Mercutio wait around for Romeo to meet them. Tybalt and Petruccio see them first, and start a quarrel. Tybalt makes it clear that he is looking for Romeo, whom he wants to punish for sneaking into the Capulets' masked party the previous day.

When Romeo arrives, overjoyed with his recent marriage, he is deferential to Tybalt, insisting he harbors no hatred for the Capulet house. Tybalt is unsure how to deal with Romeo. However, Mercutio challenges Tybalt to a duel, so he draws his sword and attacks Mercutio. Romeo attempts to intervene, holding Mercutio back. While Romeo is restraining him, Tybalt stabs Mercutio and then exits quickly.

Which two sentences in this excerpt from F. Scott Fitzgerald's "Winter Dreams" seem to foreshadow Dexter’s future obsession with
irina1246 [14]

The two sentences that seem to foreshadow Dexter’s future obsession with “possessing” Judy Jones are "He wanted not association with glittering things and glittering people—he wanted the glittering things themselves" and "Often he reached out for the best without knowing why he wanted it—and sometimes he ran up against the mysterious denials and prohibitions in which life indulges".

In "Winter Dreams" by F. Scott Fitzgerald, Dexter, who is the main character of the story, believes that Judy is the ideal woman. Although she is selfish, he pursues Judy because he has an idealistic view of her; in other words, he does not conceive her as a flawed human being. However, this idealistic view is shattered when she becomes a housewife.

This two sentences seem to foreshadow Dexter's obsession because the phrase "glittering things" could refer to Judy, whom Dexter sees as radiant. Moreover, the second sentence, which implies that Dexter wanted things without knowing why, is connected to the fact that he never loved Judy for who she was since he was always in love with an ideal of womanhood.

Because the play Romeo and Juliet takes place hundreds of years in the past, there are some differences in our marriage values t
Brums [2.3K]

Answer:

In my opinion, in the old days, everyone was jolly and grateful for who they got to marry. Money wasn't an influential cause, and although people were different colors, and had different personal attributes or aspects, they would get married for who they were deep inside. When Romeo and Juliet took place, they both were in separated families, and mainly people married their own color. However, money is greatly involved in our current era. People don't look for personal aspects or the way they are inside, many people are what we call "gold diggers". Only getting married for that cash, which is pretty sad these days. Another difference, in my opinion, is that people stayed married longer in the old days, not because of aging, but because of who they were inside, and the true gentleman inside of them. Today, many people get married just for the benefit of finance, and usually leave after cash is earned, which is overall sad.
