Pedro Alvarez Cabral was the first European explorer to arrive at the territory of Brazil in April 1500. He was sponsored by the Portuguese king. Alvarez explored the Brazilian territories and the Amazonas. Years later, the territory passed to Spanish hands, although the Spaniards ga¿faced many rebellions from the Brazil aborigines tribes.
