Immigrants arrived in the U.S in late 1800s from Southern and Eastern Europe from Italy, Poland, Greece, Russia, and Africa. A majority comprised of Roman Catholics from Italy, Jews from Russia who were fleeing religious persecutions. These groups usually faced discrimination thus clustered according to their cultures, ethnicities, and religions.
