1. Why were the northern Italian city states so wealthy during the Renaissance?
Svetlanka [38]

During the period of the Renaissance, Italy was divided into numerous small city-states controlled by local wealthy people. There were large differences though from one city-state to another, and while the northern ones were very wealthy and had things going very smoothly, the southern ones were much less successful.

The reason why the northern Italian city-states were so wealthy was mostly the trade. These city-states had excellent large ports. They were producing multiple things that were in high demand and also very well paid for for export, and were getting lot of things they needed and desired from the other parts of the world.

These states had very well developed fleets, and they were trading with multiple Asian regions, Europe, as well as parts of Africa. They were exporting their high quality products. Very often they were buying certain things from one place, then re-sell it in other place buy much higher prices, thus getting more and more wealth over time. That wealth enabled them to get all they needed without any problem, thus making them very stable and strong small states.

Of the provided statements, the true statement is that African architecture relies on available materials. There were many, many permanent structures in Africa prior to the 1400s; for example, Egyptians had been building permanent structures in the region for thousands of years. One example of that are the pyramids; however, pyramids can be found all over the world from Central Asia to Mesoamerica. The only true statement is the one quoted above.

The zoot suit riots in Los Angeles revealed which of the following? (5 points) Select one: a. the failure of the Congress of Rac
Vikentia [17]

Answer: c. the racial tension between Mexican Americans and mainstream society.

The zoot suit riots of 1943 were a series of conflicts between European white Americans (particularly those in the military service) and predominantly Mexican youth. The trigger for these was the youth’s preference for “zoot suits.” This type of suits required a lot of fabric to be made, which was seen by the white Americans as unpatriotic, because of the rationing of fabric that was established during the war.

While this specific reason was the main trigger, the riots also showed the underlying racial tensions that were found in American societies, particularly in large cities. The riots also seemed to have been the inspiration for several similar events that year in Philadelphia, Oakland, Chicago, San Diego, Evansville and New York City.
