Explain what factors were responsible for the outbreak of the first world war
fenix001 [56]

Answer:

The first 5 long term causes of the Great war were

  • Imperialism

Imperialism is the policy of expanding a nations influence with diplomacy or military force. For many years the great powers of europe have been expanding colonies which sustained more than enough weal and raw materials to expand their powers even more.

  • Militarism

Militarism is the belief or desire of a government or people that a country should maintain a strong military capability and be prepared to use it aggressively to defend or promote national interests. This means that nations were willing to use force to expand their interest or for national security.

  • Nationalism

Nationalism is an ideology and movement that promotes the interests of a particular nation especially with the aim of gaining and maintaining the nation's sovereignty over its homeland. The love of one's country or homeland ran high during these times and people were willing to defend the pride of their nation no matter the cost which is why these nations were so willing to go to war.

  • And a broken alliance system

During the early 1900's the fear of germany and its growing military might compelled both France and russia to form an alliance which later on Great Britain would join for the same reason but only to defend their naval power which germany was expanding into. But then Germany decided to form an alliance with austria hungary due to europe forming alliances. But what the alliance meant was "If someone attacks you, then i will come to your aid." So with european powers forced to come to the aid of another it pulled europe into a catastrophic war.

But the last factor that pulled europe into war was the assassination of archduke ferdinand. Who was the ruler of Austria Hungary, which was allied with Germany. But the blame was placed solely on Serbia which Austria declared on. But russia felt responsible to be the protector of all slavic people which came to serbia's aid and declared war on Austria hungary. Which forced germany to declare war on russia and so on.

I put a lot of time, research and effort into this answer so i hope you appreciate it...
