The orange gene (O) controls the production of a pigment (pheomelanin) that gives Bengal tigers their orange coat color. Felines

that are homozygous for the inactive version of the gene (oo) fail to make pheomelanin and have white fur. If a white tiger (oo) mates with a carrier for the trait (Oo), what are the odds that they will have a white tiger cub?

Answer:

0.5

Explanation:

Given, gene O results in production of pigment.

OO, Oo = Orange

oo = white

If Oo X oo :

    O       o

o  Oo    oo

o  Oo    oo

Half of the progeny will have Oo genotype so they will be heterozygous and will have orange fur. Other half will have oo genotype so they will be homozygous recessive and will have white fur. So the odds of having a white tiger cub is 0.5.

Where do most commercial airline pilots like to fly in the atmosphere? Why?
Fed [463]

Answer:

The main reason airplanes fly in the stratosphere is because this is where the least amount of turbulence is found. In addition, because the stratosphere is very dry, there are fewer clouds in this layer, making for a much smoother ride overall.

Explanation:

Commercial jet aircraft fly in the lower stratosphere to avoid the turbulence which is common in the troposphere below. The stratosphere is very dry; air there contains little water vapor. Because of this, few clouds are found in this layer; almost all clouds occur in the lower, more humid troposphere.
