This historical period took place from the 14th to the 16th century. The contacts through the trading exchanges allowed the Europeans to discover the sciences mastered by the Arabs like mathematics, astronomy, and medicine.
It was the Italians and the Spaniards who brought this new knowledge to Europe and made science to develop a lot. Some times later, the Europeans got rich because of the discovery of America and trade with the Indians. The arrival of gold and precious stones on the old continent created an important new bourgeois class that had money to spend. A new culture appeared when they started to buy paintings to beautify their palaces, listened to musics, and discover new books.
During the Renaissance, there was a great spirit of freedom everywhere on the European continent. Religion was not as important as before. But they concerned about humans, and there was a great desire to develop intelligence to understand better the world. Many texts of Greek and Roman antiquity were studied again, this civilization returned during the three centuries.
