Read the excerpt from "The Enigma Machine.” Cryptologists looked for cribs, which are repeated expressions in messages. Sloppy o

perators would repeat phrases like "nothing to report" or "weather forecast" (Wettervorhersage), which served as clues. If there were no cribs to be found, the British would send out false information about, say, British mines planted in a given area. The Germans might then send messages with the name of that area, which would provide clues about deciphering that code. Which is the meaning of the word cryptologists? people who study weapons people who study codes people who study marine life people who study ships

Create three potential questions from this statement: Foreshadowing is used often in Beowulf.
BlackZzzverrR [31]

Answer:

-What is a literary device used in Beowulf?

- Do you think flashback or forshadow is used in Beowulf?

-What do you think is the technique used by the author to presage what happens in Beowulf?

Explanation:

The foreshadowing technique is very important to provide continuity and verisimilitude to the plot, so that the reader feels that things don't just happen unexpectedly: it prepares the reader to accept what is to come. It is also essential to create tension and expectation in the reader. An omen that anticipates that something terrible is about to happen will make it impossible for the reader to detach from your book.

And finally, we use foreshadowing for aesthetic reasons. Because we like to find parallels between the beginning and the end of a novel. Perhaps also because we like things to happen for a reason, because fiction reflects a need to find a deeper meaning to what happens to us.

Explain why doctors long ago used bloodletting to treat their patients. Use text evidence to support your answer.
ankoles [38]
In Ancient times, sickness was thought to be caused by an excess of blood. Therefore, doctors would cut into their patients and let some of the blood out to help cure them. This theory advanced into thinking that the human body needed all of its "humors" to be balanced: blood was one of the humors so if  the doctor thought you had an imbalance, they would 'let' some of the blood out.
