A very prolific musician, his 1936 and 1937 albums are his masterpieces and he has been hailed by some musicians as the most important blues musician that ever existed. There is even a popular legend stating that he sold his soul to the devil in order to get such an extraordinary talent.

I might have got it mixed up but the northerners were slave owner and the fugitive slave act was an act to get rid of slavery.  It angered the northerners because it would mean they will either one pay the african americans or two let them be free.
