Answer:

A. They are in dispute over who owns a piece of land.

Explanation:

Nathaniel Hawthorne's Gothic novel "The House of the Seven Gables" tells the story of two families' lives, their enmity and the supernatural ways of deaths of the Pyncheon family members.

In the novel, Colonel Pyncheon had built a house on the land owned by Matthew Maule. The colonel had gotten Matthew killed on charges of witchcraft and had taken the land, making it his own. On the day of the housewarming party, the colonel was found dead n his armchair. Some legends say that Matthew had put a curse on the Pyncheon family for the witchcraft accusation. Eventually, another member of the Pyncheon family would again die on the same armchair. The story ends with the character of Holgrave forgiving the remaining Pyncheon family members and everything becoming peacefl in the end.

How is "rhetorical listening" different from the regular, casual listening that we do every day?
sineoko [7]

Answer:

Rhetorical listening offers the 'stance of openness to subsume different perspectives.'

Explanation:

The key difference between the regular and rhetorical listening is that the latter gives us enough broadness to pay attention to opposing views as well. It helps us in moving ahead of our various cultural or other identity-associated barriers and view different frameworks or perspectives. Rhetorical listening takes us to a more ethical and logical while believing in anyone's thoughts or opinions during an argument. Rhetorical listening promotes comprehension and collective knowledge.
