History

There were many significant and important rulers in medieval Europe. It's hard to pinpoint a few which I think were the most significant ones, but without a doubt, William the Conqueror is one of them, as he was the ruler of England for a time and brought Norman rule over the isles (they were previously under Anglo-Saxon rule). Another important ruler would be Richard the Lionheart, whose attempted conquest of the middle east marked an important turning stone for the Crusades in the future.

Describe the shift in the Roman Empire that created Byzantium in the East and what would eventually become Europe in the West an
Nataly [62]

Answer:

The Byzantine Empire began when Roman emperor Constantine I decided to relocate the capital of the Roman Empire from Rome to ancient Greek colony Byzantium. With the decline of the Roman Empire in the West, began the rise of the Byzantine in the East. Byzantine Empire began with Greek-influenced culture and language. Byzantine empire arts were very much different from the Roman. Art reflected upon the orthodox Christianity, depicting religious subjects of Christ, Mary and Saints along with emperors and their queens. Hagia Sophia remains a perfect example of art and architecture.
