Answer:

Explanation:

A peasant heard rumors of his neighbor stealing axes and giving them to his lumberjack friends. During the time of this story an axe cost a fortune. The peasant knew his neighbor was an honest man.

– But who knows? – thought the peasant – I might be wrong.

So he rushed home to check on his axe. He went to the barn and looked for it in every corner, but could not find his axe.

He rushed outside and saw his neighbor passing by. As the peasant looked at his neighbor, it was obvious to him, that the neighbor was not just simply walking. He walked like a person who had just stolen something. He probably had stolen the axe. In fact, the neighbor looked over at the peasant with squinted eyes, like a person who had stolen an axe; and he smiled like a person who had stolen an axe. He even greeted his neighbor, like a person who had stolen  an axe.

– What a dishonest neighbor! – the peasant decided.

He got angry at his neighbor and went back to his house. When he was about to get in he saw his wife standing in the doorway. She had an axe in her left hand. Their axe! The axe that he thought was stolen. His wife had taken it to a smith to sharpen it earlier that day.

The man was delighted. He then glanced back at his neighbor, who was walking away. This time it was clear that the neighbor did not walk like a man who had stolen an axe, he did not look or squint, like a man who had stolen an axe.

– What an honest neighbor I have! – exclaimed the peasant.

Hope this helped you!

Answer:

Hasty generalization is a type of logical fallacy. A fallacy is an argument that is based on mistaken reasoning. When one makes a hasty generalization, he applies a belief to a larger population than he should based on the information that he has.

For example, if my brother likes to eat a lot of pizza and French fries, and he is healthy, I can say that pizza and French fries are healthy and don't really make a person fat. However, I don't have a large enough sample population to make this claim. I have generalized based on one person.
