Ben’s father, an American history teacher, had a thirst for knowledge to rival Abraham Lincoln’s. Under his guidance, the family

had traveled last year from their home in Michigan across the upper Midwest, with a final destination of Mount Rushmore in South Dakota. Their trailer became a private passenger train complete with a dining car and restroom. No longer stuck in one place, this home on wheels provided for all his family’s needs while moving them from one unusual spot to the next. They could camp out while still being at home, and the scenery changed almost every day. The trailer stopped in small cities and towns across the states as if it were a train. Like a midwest Lewis and Clark expedition, Ben and his family explored Wisconsin’s waterfalls, explored the many untouched, untamed forests of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, and sighted the occasional bear, elk, and other wild forest animals. They remained in one place long enough to get tired of it and then moved on to the next stop on their trailer-train ride to their final destination of Mount Rushmore, where they’d all marveled at the sheer size of the magnificent monument. Ben looked forward to discovering which route they would take and which unique places they might visit this year.
How does the allusion to Abraham Lincoln in Paragraph 3 affect this passage?

A.) It suggests that Ben's father would prefer a simpler, more old-fashioned life. B.) It suggests that Ben's father's intellectual curiosity is a positive trait.
C.) It suggests that Ben's father also has political ambitions.
D.) It suggests that Ben's father's honesty rivals that of Lincoln.

The answer is:

It suggests that Ben's father's intellectual curiosity is a positive trait.

According to the passage, Ben's father inquisitiveness and intense desire for knowledge equals U.S. president's Abraham Lincoln's curiosity. As a result, he takes his family on holiday from Michigan to South Dakota in a comfortable trailer to go camping and see waterfalls, forests and Mount Rushmore.

SashulF [63]

-For a dictionary you would use it when you come across a word while reading books, magazines, or an article on your phone if you see a word you cannot pronounce or do not understand.

-If your using a thesaurus then you should use it to find synonyms for any word except slang as far as I know. A thesaurus can help you find words similar in meaning to JOY which would be: Happy, Joyful, Cheerful etc.

- A glossary is for when your reading a book and you don't understand some words. You open the book then proceed to the back of the book where you will find a lot of words with definitions a lot like dictionaries.

Glad to help! :)
