In an accountant's trial for filing fraudulent tax reports, the prosecution calls a former colleague of the accountant, and she

testifies that the accountant's reputation in the community is for frequently participating in very questionable reporting, often resulting in unnecessary risk for his clients. She testifies further that she thinks the accountant is dishonest. Should the trial court admit this evidence over the accountant's objection?

Answer:

A) No, because the prosecution cannot initiate evidence of the defendant's character.

Explanation:

This testimony can only be admissible if the defendant takes the stand and brings his character into issue, or presents some other type of evidence of his good reputation. Only then can the court admit evidence about the defendant's bad character or bad reputation.

Should the firm instead shut down in the short run? in the short run, the firm should?
Gnesinka [82]

In the near run, the firm should keep producing because the price is higher than the average variable cost. In economics, the variable cost per unit is known as the average variable cost.  Variable cost is divided by  the output to derive  the average variable cost.

In the short term, the firm use the average variable cost to determine whether to stop production. The variable cost per unit of total product is known as the average variable cost (AVC) (TP). Divide variable cost at a given total product level by total product to compute AVC. This computation is used to calculate the cost per unit of output.

I would say is best conveyed through one's immediate supervisor. When one would start working in a company, he is under a supervisor that would be the one to convey the messages from the managers. This is done so that the chain of command will not be broken. Since the employee is already given clear instructions is to who he is supposed to answer to, then work related information should be exchanged by the employee and his immediate supervisor so that there is no confusion. </span>
