The answer is C, “Lincoln promises to restore peace”.

In that period of time, the desired peace hadn’t been achieved yet so, after the catastrophic events that occurred because of the war (dead soldiers and as a result of that, lonely families), he tries to set calm in society by promising to restore the peace. What supports the answer is noticeable when it says “let us strive to finish the work we are in, to bind up the nation’s wounds, to care for him whom shall have borne the battle…”. He wants to finish the work they are doing so that they restore the nation’s peace.

From this passage, I can infer that the season is fall. This is because the passage mentions a crisp day and "leaves were turning gold and red". This phenomenon usually only occurs in the autumn. To further prove the point, the deer was a buck, meaning he was probably born sometime in the spring or summer, giving him time to grow up. I hope this is what you need! :D

Which one of the following statements is true regarding paragraphs?
Rom4ik [11]
The answer is B. Although it may seem the other answers are correct as well, in fact they are not. A 'complex paragraph' is indeed one which explains multiple sides of an issue, but favors one, thus only one main topic is represented. It doesn't really matter where the topic sentence is placed - it can be anywhere in the paragraph. However, it is traditionally placed in the first sentence, although that rule isn't written in stone - the topic sentence can also be placed at the end of the paragraph. Therefore, we are left with only one option, and that is B, 'a paragraph should have one main topic'.

Maksim231197 [3]

Answer:

The details of this excerpt reveal the author’s purpose by

b. including facts and details about the topic.

Explanation:

This excerpt does not at any moment explain why the fans acted the way they did. We can only come up with assumptions, but nothing is clear. We are not told why they screamed those insults nor why they "feel the heat". We can eliminate option A.

Option C is also wrong since the author does not address the reader. There is also no encouraging of beliefs. We are told how the characters feel, but the author does not establish a sense of right and wrong, or of just and unjust.

Option D can also be eliminated. The author does not express any opinions concerning a topic. Again, we know how Neto and Andy feel about the fans' behavior, but that is all.

We are thus left with option B. The details the author gives us about the way the characters feel are enough for us to elicit the topic of the excerpt. It certainly concerns racial prejudice and how it affects people.
