Smallpox was introduced to Europe sometime between the fifth and seventh centuries and was frequently epidemic during the Middle

Ages. The disease greatly affected the development of Western civilization. The first stages of the decline of the Roman Empire (AD 108) coincided with a large-scale epidemic: the plague of Antonine, which accounted for the deaths of almost 7 million people. The Arab expansion, the Crusades, and the discovery of the West Indies all contributed to the spread of the disease.
The author most supports his argument that smallpox devastated mankind over the centuries by providing
a historical timeline.
an alternative claim.
details of a historical incident.
interesting, partially related facts.

The Author presents a series of interesting, partially related facts to support his argument that smallpox devastated mankind over the centuries.

The option of a Historical Timeline is not correct because only the example of the decline of the Roman Empires states an actual date ( AD 108).

The option of an alternative claim is also incorrect because there is no such a claim.

The option of details of a historical incident seems to be correct but is not because there are several historical events presented and there is not a single detail on them.

So the correct option is the last one interesting, partially related facts.

Simora [160]

Answer:

"Narrow clip" means a close call. "Broken sea" is referring to the waves on the ocean.

Explanation:

"Narrow clip" most likely means a close call, or a dangerous situation that he only just made it out of. He appears to repeat the phrase over and over again almost in astonishment, and it seems like that is what this refers to.

"Broken sea" is probably referring to the waves on the ocean. Water is often thought of as still, so with waves, it will probably look almost broken.

LuckyWell [14K]

Answer:

Dr. Naismith first planned to bring outdoor games inside, but they were too physical and cumbersome.

Explanation:

Eliminate repeated words.

Other comments:

'Two' is a number. 'Too' means extra or more than expected-- too many, too much, too late. . .

Two should not be too many to count!

Also be careful to use correct verb forms (planned) (were) to express past tense.

Which of the following in-text citations is written correctly for a periodical citation? The author of the source is Audre Syng,
Triss [41]

Answer:

A). Syng, page. 18

Explanation:

An in-text citation usually follows the pattern beginning the author's last name followed by initials(first and second), year, month, day, article name, Newspaper title and the page range for general reference. But in case of paraphrase, the in-text citation is written as the author's last name followed by the year which is not among the options. Thus, the most appropriate among the given ones could be (Syng, p.18) as the other options are not following the format at all and hence, either incomplete or inappropriate.
