Right off the bat, we can eliminate simple sentence; this sentence clearly has multiple subjects and predicates, separated by commas.

After I thought about it for a while, this is an example of a complex sentence. It isn't compound-complex, because to have a compound-complex sentence is to have two independent clauses, clauses that can stand on their own and make sense.

Breaking the sentence up, we have three parts: "As immigration patterns changed in the mid-1800s" (dependent clause), "most immigrants came from Germany to Ireland" (independent clause), "which are countries in western Europe" (dependent clause).

As can be seen, we have two dependent clauses but only one independent clause. So we can rule out compound sentence as well, since it also needs to have two independent clauses. So we are left with complex sentence.

This could technically be considered two complex sentences put together; the independent clause in the middle makes it so you could have just written "As immigration patterns changed in the mid-1800s, most immigrants came from Germany and Ireland." and it would make sense, or "Most immigrants came from Germany and Ireland, which are countries in western Europe" and it would also make sense.

Hope this helps!

What do you think is meant by the last line of the story? How does it relate to one of the themes in “Games of Twilight”?
SVETLANKA909090 [29]

Answer:One of the themes in “Games at Twilight” is the insignificance of individuals. The last line in the story reveals Ravi’s state of mind when he finds out that his desire to win kept him inside the shed for too long. When he finally rushes out to touch the den, he discovers that his friends have moved on to another game and no one noticed his absence. He is shamed and pained by the idea that his friends have forgotten him. Ravi’s feelings connect to the story’s theme of coming of age. The final sentence shows how Ravi is faced with a feeling of not only being removed from his family and friends, which is a change everyone must go through, but also his place in the universe.

the author does not include the year in which the story takes place or the name of the village. Why are these details of setting
bezimeni [28]

maybe the author just want to keep that info secret and the story maybe not true at all so author doesn't want to tell readers, that what I think!
