Where does the water in rivers come from ? What causes rivers to flow? ( Site 1)
SVEN [57.7K]

Answer:Most water you see flowing in rivers comes from precipitation runoff from the land surface alongside the river. Of course, not all runoff ends up in rivers. Some of it evaporates on the journey downslope, can be diverted and used by people for their uses, and can even be lapped up by animals.

Why Douglass does not wish to celebrate the 4th of July?
Write 3-5 sentences
igomit [66]

Douglass did not wish to celebrate The 4th of July because it was celebrating freedom. There were many blacks still enslaved and he dispised how United States celebrated freedom when millions of blacks were still enslaved. Douglass said “The rich inheritance of justice, liberty, prosperity and independence, bequeathed by your fathers, is shared by you, not by me. The sunlight that brought life and healing to you, has brought stripes and death to me. This Fourth [of] July is yours, not mine.” He is talking about the black slaves who are still trapped with no freedom

What connection does the author draw between Jekyll and Hyde and human behavior
kirill [66]

The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde talks about the duality of human nature. What is Duality? It's a philosophical theory that the world can be divided in two basic entities. In the novel it's good versus evil. As we go through the novel, we realize that humans have both good and evil and one without the other can't exist.

Dr. Jekyll has a socially accepted behavior, but he also wants to do things he has been told all his life not to do. That's why he creates Mr. Hyde, and in a way he releases all his demons. Mr. Hyde takes joy in being evil and doing bad things. But soon Dr. Jekyll realizes that good and bad balance each other, as evil starts to take over.

Basically, the novel talks about the good and evil that exits in every person. We need both to have a balanced life.
