It satisfied the southern states. They were upset because the north had a higher population and got more points in the electoral college. The north comprised with the three-fifths compromise which counted slaves as three-fifths of a person.

The reason colonists chose to build jame stown where they did was to provide enough distance from dangerous spanish ships that could attack them.

the challenges they faced included flooding, lack of water and food/starvation, mosquitoes spreading diseases, and the powhatan (native american) tribes had a hunting ground near the jamestown forts.
