To improve the understanding of an informational paragraph, the questions that are best to ask are the following ones:

  • What is the paragraph mostly about?
  • Are there any unfamiliar words I need to learn?
  • What is the author's claim?
  • How does the evidence relate to the claim?

Informative paragraphs are paragraphs that provide the reader with information. After you've read it, you can ask yourself what the paragraph is about so as to come up with a summary of its content and also to explain in in your words. In this way, you'll clearly understand it. What is more, you should identify the voculary you are not familiar with so as to look the words up in the dictionary not to miss anything. Finally, identifying the claim and relating it to the evidence will help you create relantionships between the ideas presented. In this way, you will fully grasp the information provided in the paragraph.
