How did the Wakatsukis and other families show that they were resourceful while at Manzanar? Include three examples from the mem
vlabodo [156]

In the memoir published in th year of 1973 called "Farewell to Manzanar" it describes the experiences of the Family of a Japanese couple James D. Houston and Jeanne Wakatsuki Houston and what they lived while they were imprisoned at the Manzanar concentration camp. This was at he time that the United States of America government did an internment to the Japanese people living in the country at the time of World War II.

By reading the story, you can tell there is family’s disintegration that happens mainly when they stop eating together. During day time the people at Manzanar were offered to spend hours doing volunteering jobs or working instead of staying all day long at the barracks. In chapter 4 the quote: "[Mama] would quickly subordinate her own desires to those of the family or the community, because she knew cooperation was the only way to survive." implies that the mother was willing to work there there creating an influence in her daughter.

Why does Kennedy repeatedly refer to "both sides" in the middle of the speech? What i=effect might this repetition have on liste
Sladkaya [172]

Answer:

1. To appeal to other countries that might be at war or foes of the United States of America. So, the United States and the other countries are the both sides.

2. The effect of this on the audience including those on the other side would be a softened emotion that would prompt them to strive for unity.

Explanation:

President John F. Kennedy on his inaugural day delivered a lecture to the American audience which was broadcast worldwide. In the middle of the speech, he started several sentences with the phrase, "Let both sides...". By referring to both sides, he was making reference to countries that were in opposition to the United States. He implored that they seek peaceful ways to resolve their problems instead of resorting to violence and the use of arms which were negative inventions of science.

This would have appealed to the emotions of his immediate and extended audience, helping them realize that war was not the best option for them. They would also come to see civility as a better way to deal with their issues.

garri49 [273]

Answer:

Shaping

Explanation:

In psychology, shaping refers to the process of reinforcing successively closer and closer approximations to a desired terminal behavior.

Shaping has different stages:

 1. Reinforce any response that in some way resembles the desired behavior.
 2. Reinforce the response that closely approximates the desired behavior
 3. Reinforce the response that resembles the terminal behavior even more closely.
 4. Continue reinforcing closer and closer approximations to the terminal behavior
 5. Reinforce only the terminal behavior.

As you can see shaping starts by reinforcing any response that resembles the desired terminal behavior and then it finishes by reinforcing only the terminal behavior.

In this example, the therapist initially gave him a piece of chocolate any time he made a sound with his lips. Then he only received a piece of chocolate for saying complete words. Finally, he would get the chocolate for saying complete sentences.

Thus, this is an example of shaping, since the reinforcements where changing as the behavior got closer and closer to the terminal desired behavior.
