Answer:

The Townshend Acts were British tax laws.  They consisted of two tributes proposed by Charles Townshend and approved by the Parliament of Great Britain on June 29, 1767. They determined the taxation of consumables such as tea, glass, paper and others, as well as the creation of customs tribunals in the colonies.  The goal of the Townshend laws was to earn £ 40,000 each year to finance the colonial administration.

Because of the rise in prices of these items, the discontent raised in the English colonies in America, provoking confrontations between colonists and the British officials, becoming one of the factors that led to the American Revolution and the Independence of the United States of America.
