Congressional staff increased greatly in the 20th century due to the shift in politics from grassroots to higher levels of lobbying, groups and special interests. The congress person was not only invested in their district but in those special interest groups requesting meetings and events with the congressperson. By increasing staff, they would be able to learn more about these groups and lobbyists so they could make a more informed decision. It also allowed the staff to deal directly with the public. A congressman in the early 20th century would only have in person visits and the occasional phone call, but by the end of the 20th century, the congressperson would have contact via appointment, call, letter, email and even rudimentary instant contact via Instant Messenger and sites like Myspace.
Answer:
well--- I cant really answer that question as to who won the debate.
Explanation:
Lets get into it shall we
I think the debate last night was horrible! Essentially, it was two children going on and on, arguing with each other and whatnot without getting anywhere! I'm a Trump supporter, but I find his actions last night unacceptable. His constant interruptions couldn't let me grasp any information on what each candidate stands for, what he will do if he gets the presidency, etc. The poor moderator had to stop them so many times--- that really shows how unprofessional this debate was. I feel as if both candidates would just let each other talk, they could make better comebacks/remarks--which I think would help undecided voters decide who they would want to be as president.
Basically, cause of all the babbling last night, I really can't tell who won this debate.
Next time, both of them better get their -ish straight- especially Trump lol
Individual desires are more important than that of the public's opinion on what is "good" because what is good for the majority many not be good for certain individuals in society. For instance, A majority of the population in America is white. During the advent of civil rights, many whites opposed the allowance of blacks in America to have the same rights as white people. If the matter was decided on popular vote alone, blacks may have been oppressed longer. But the minority protections the country has as a republic were cause for the movement for civil rights not to have to convince the whole country, just enough politicians to move legislature.
