The process of industrialization is called the Industrial Revolution because it changed the world completely forever. Before industrialization the world was different, the concept of work was different, economies were different and the social hierarchy was different. With industrialization, countries noticed that wealth was not about how much money you got in precious metals but the number of goods you can make and sell. Industrialization also changed the system of production, that was mostly handmade and became industrialized with machines that were created and moved by fuel. Industrialization also pushed the search for fuel to those machines and the need for electricity became greater and greater.

The society also was very impacted by Industrialization because it created a bigger gap between the rich and the poor, the ones that already had money were able to create industries and become richer, and the poor people had to work in those industries for low wages and poor job conditions.

For the answer to the question above, it was called a revolution because it was quick and enveloped entire countries almost overnight while inspiring others to join in. In many ways, it was similar to how revolutions affect societies and how fast they spread. The effect was that many people lost their jobs, while many new jobs regarding machines were created. Everything was sped up and people could progress even further.

mrs_skeptik [129]

I think you are trying to find more about Alexis de Tocqueville who wrote a book with the title you have offered. He was a very keen observer of the American political system.

In 1830, he was sent to America by the French government to study the American prison system, but he was far more interested in the wider aspects of American life and politics. He even spent some time in Canada which is to say what is now Ontario and Quebec.

His travelling partner (a man whose family name was Beaumont) wrote a novel about the injustice of Slavery. de Tocqueville shared Beaumont's outrage at the practice.

But his main contribution was his wide vision of America. In general he was a fan and applauded the way the checks and balances worked and the division of power between the Federal and State governments.
