Answer:

The reader does not know why Diane is carrying a brain.

Explanation:

Suspense or tension in a story is when the readers are unsure about what the events in the story will be like. The feeling of not knowing what will happen, along with the eagerness to see what will happen is known as suspense.

In the given passage from "A Drop in the Bucket", the reader knows that Diane's mother is in the room. This story is about Diane France, a famous forensic anthropologist who deals with bones to specify and determine their causes of death. So, when she returned to the room with the brain in the bucket, we, along with her mother, are shocked to actually see a brain in a bucket. It may be common for Diane to deal with these things but it certainly isn't for us and her mother. And the suspense is further heightened when we don't know why she is carrying a brain like it is nothing unusual.

Thus, the correct answer is the last option.

To what extent does one's background affect his or her perception of a given situation?
cricket20 [7]
One's background affects his or her perception with given situations as this will be set as a view of what other people will likely think of him or her. A person's background will likely affect how other people will view them and how they are viewed in everything they do. Example of a scenario of this is  when an individual has a criminal record. They will likely not hire a person who has a criminal record because they think that he or she is already bad and not  worth trusting.

Explanation:

What conditions cause an understanding to be shared across time and cultures? Is a lack of consistent communication a common barrier to shared understanding? How might self-presentation affect communication? How might the competitive self-promotion of a social group affect communication? How might external models of mathematics change the way that we understand our own mathematical capabilities and the mathematical activities we have chosen? How might language and folk ideas shape mathematics communication? How might the cultural value systems of mathematical societies facilitate communication? In so doing, this volume will discuss issues in mathematics education, as well as mathematical theories and mathematical practice
