Hurricane Katrina was formed in August of 2005. On 29th of August, there was failure of over 50 levees and floodwalls which provided protection to New Orleans and its suburbs. This caused flooding in majority parts of New Orleans causing vast amount of water to flow in and caused damage to builidings.

One of the worst natural disasters in the United States that because in the early days New Orleans has been sinking the soil in and near New Orleans is a combination of sand clay and silt overtime the soil sinks. High walls called levees are around the city to keep rising river levels at bay. On 29th of August 2005, the whole city was flooded because the water levels raised to such an extent that the levees failed to protect the city.
