The Geneva accords affected the political status of Vietnam since Vietnam was temporarily divided into two separate nations.

Following the French defeated a Dien Bien Phu in northern Vietnam, the Geneva Accords constituted the Peace deal that resulted in the creation of Cambodia, Laos, as well as Vietnam. Consequently, Vietnam was temporarily divided at the 17 Parallel.

The Geneva Conference was a conference among several nations that held in Geneva, Switzerland from April 26 – July 20, 1954.
