Alright, lets get started.

The length of each section what carpenter needs to cut is 3 feet and 8 inches.

Converting 3 feet and 8 inches into feet only, we know, 12 inches = 1 feet

So, 3 feet 8 inches = 3 +\frac{8}{12} =3 +\frac{2}{3} =\frac{11}{3} feet

It means length of each section = \frac{11}{3} feet

Carpenter needs to cut 4 sections, so length of 4 sections will be = 4*\frac{11}{3}=\frac{44}{3}=14\frac{2}{3} feet

2/3 feet means 8 inches so she needs board 14 feet 8 inches

Board is only sold by the feet only so, she has to puchase 15 feet board.   :   Answer

Lou's car had 5.1 gallons in the 13-gallon tank on the coldest day of the year. Lou filled the tank with gas that cost $3.70
kipiarov [429]

Answer:

$29.23

Step-by-step explanation:

Lou's car had a tank of capacity 13 gallons which were 5.1 gallons filled on the coldest day of the year.

So, the remaining unfilled capacity of the tank is (13- 5.1) =7.9 gallons.

Now, this volume of the tank is to be filled with gas that costs $3.70 per gallons.

Therefore, Lou has to spend (7.9 × 3.70) = $29.23 on gas. (Answer)
