How can rhetorical comparisons be used in persuasive writing?

English

Rhetoric usually works through the emotive, or rhetorical force of words and phrases—the emotional associations they express and elicit. Rhetoric is used to influence our beliefs and attitudes. In fact, rhetoric can be more effective than argument when it comes to influencing someone’s belief’s and attitudes. But it shouldn’t be. Rhetoric may be psychologically powerful, but by itself it establishes nothing.

(1) It was December 7, 1941. (2) The freighter Florentine, 320 miles northeast of the Hawaiian Island of Hilo was lumbering alon
Nikitich [7]
A) (Sentence 2) The freighter Florentine, 320 miles northeast of the Hawaiian Island of Hilo was lumbering along at about 15 knots when a garbled message came in over the radio.

This is the sentence that has a missing necessary comma. Another comma should have been placed after the word Hilo and before was.

The commas in this sentence enclosed nonessential information.

The freighter Florentine, 320 miles northeast of the Hawaiian Island of Hilo, was lumbering along at about 15 knots when a garbled message came in over the radio.

Nonessential information means that if the said phrase is deleted from the sentence, then the sentence would still convey the same message.

The freighter Florentine was lumbering along at about 15 knots when a garbled message came in over the radio.

What action is not typically a characteristic of colonization?
MrRissso [65]

Answer:

B. Colonizers learn the native people's languages and practice native traditions.

Explanation:

Colonization is a method of absorbing and assimilating foreign people into the culture of the imperial country. Colonizers usually try to destroy any remnant of the cultures that might threaten the imperial territory. So the action in option B is definitely not a characteristic of colonization.
