Answer:

C. The way to be happy is to avoid pain.

Explanation:

Epicurus was a philosopher in ancient Greek, who developed the school of thought  known as Epicureanism. He was born in the year 341 BC and died in 270 BC. The basic idea of this philosophy is that the senses are to be greatly relied on to find explanations to several issues.

Epicurus believed that man should endeavor to avoid pain, because when there is no pain, then the greatest happiness can be achieved. His idea of the senses as a logical way of explaining issues was rejected by other philosophers who believed that, 'reason' was a better explanation of why things happen.

The best answer is Mrs. Crater claims that she would not give her daughter away for anything, when in fact she gives her away for nothing at all.

Explanation

If you talk about the irony of a situation, you mean that it is odd or amusing because it involves a contrast. So when Mr. Crater says <em>"I wouldn’t give her up for nothing on earth"</em>, she doesn't mean it because she even pays Mr. Shiftlet to marry her daughter.

The other answers does not demonstrate the true irony of the excerpt:

  1. Mrs. Crater asserts that Lucynell can sweep, cook, feed the chickens, and h o. but the girl also is very smart: This can be considered ironic but it is not the irony of the whole excerpt.
  2. Mrs. Crater is describing all of her daughter’s strengths to Mr. Shiftlet in the hopes that he will marry Lucynell: This is not an irony.
  3. Crater says she values her daughter more than anything in the world, but then she gives her away for a car: This is not true.

1. What kinds of perspectives might Sacagawea have had
koban [17]

Answer:

The Lewis and Clark expedition, also known as the Corps of Discovery, started its lengthy journey to explore the lands of the Louisiana Purchase in search of a river route across the West to the Pacific Ocean in May 1804. They travelled up the Missouri River all the way to the village of St. Charles. The men received no more supplies or reinforcements after they passed that village. During the summer of 1804, after travelling for more than 600 miles, the Corps of Discovery finally met some Native Americans who helped them and provided them with fresh fruits and vegetables. They also provided them with horses and a guide to lead them across the Rocky Mountains.
