America is built on the idea of a democracy and that the people rule and have more say. The First Amendment plays a huge part in allowing that right to remain with the citizens. It is especially important around elections because during elections the people are choosing who will represent them in government and help influence the other branches to make specific changes. Allowing political expression increases the people’s confidence in the government
