"Imagine that you are a 1st year Gryffindor student. You are very shy and you’ve always had trouble making friends. You are sitt

ing in the common room and you overhear Harry and Ron talking about sneaking out after bedtime. You think that Harry and Ron seem like popular kids and you want to be their friend. However, you also know that Hogwarts professors are strict and that sneaking out can lose points for Gryffindor. What would you do?"

1. the white house has been home to many animals as well as presidents . ( 1point ) A . common noun b. proper noun c. compounds
VashaNatasha [74]
It's not clear which word you should identify. But I remember that I've answered this question before. So I know what to do. I've put these words in bold:

1. The White House has been home to many animals as well as presidents. I am definitely sure that the White House is proper noun, because it is a name used for individual place and it is spelled with an initial capital letter. So the answer is b.

2. Teddy Roosevelt for example kept a pet snake. The word "snake" is 100% common noun, because it denotes a class of objects (snakes). So the answer is A.

3. When Abraham Lincoln was president , he had a turkey named Jack. The word "he" is a third person pronoun because it refers to person other than the writer. So the answer is letter C.

4. Who remembers the name of Lyndon Johnsons dogs? The word "Who" is an interrogative pronoun because it's used to ask a specific question. There are five interrogative pronouns. Anyway, there are no option with interrogative pronoun. So find the letter by yourself.

Which of the following sentences uses the correct capitalization?
MrRa [10]

The sentence using the correct capitalization is the third:

"The Red Cross is a liaison for the families of soldiers stationed in other countries, acting as a go-between for separated spouses, parents and children."

Neither liaison nor soldiers need to be capitalized, since they are only common nouns, while the Red Cross is the proper noun of an institution and as such, it needs to have each word capitalized.
