Each branch is restrained by the other two in several ways,for example the president veto a law pass...I think it was cogress,I really hope this helps.

The Constitution divided the government into 3 branches; legislative, judicial, and executive. That was an important decision because it gave specific powers to each branch and set up something called Checks and Balances. Of course, this was made so no such branch would gain too much power
