is, according to psychologist Albert Bandura who originally proposed the concept, a personal judgment of "how well one can execute courses of action required to deal with prospective situations".[1] Expectations of self-efficacy determine whether an individual will be able to exhibit coping behavior and how long effort will be sustained in the face of obstacles.[2] Individuals who have high self-efficacy will exert sufficient effort that, if well executed, leads to successful outcomes, whereas those with low self-efficacy are likely to cease effort early and fail.

1) As I sat on what I thought was my deathbed, I believed that leaf was connected to my life force. That once it became dry and fell, I would die along with it.

2) The leaf was special to me because I believed that we were the same. Just waiting for the day we were blown away in an angry storm. We both were just barely hanging on until we died.
