Hoover and the great depression

In 1929, the collapse of the stock market produced the beginning of the Great Depression.

The Hoover administration actually sought measures that helped lay the groundwork for Roosevelt's New Deal.

Hoover launched a massive public works program, part of which included funds for the construction of the Hoover Dam on the Colorado River. His administration implemented stronger labor protections and substantially increased federal agricultural subsidies.

Hoover also played a key role in passing the Glass-Steagall Act of 1932, which limited the activities of commercial banks in an attempt to stabilize the banking sector.

However, many of these policies were not effective immediately, and some of the administration's actions actually made the effects of depression worse.

The Smoot-Hawley Tariffs Act, for example, which Hoover signed because it had no other option, increased tariffs on thousands of imported products and initiated a trade war between the United States and Europe, thus exacerbating the global economic recession.

Although Hoover ran for re-election in 1932, his inability to mitigate the negative economic consequences of the Great Depression had made him very unpopular. He lost the elections to Democrat Franklin D. Roosevelt.

The correct answers are C) calling for immediate federal funding to support financial institutions troubled by bank runs and D) creating a series of federal programs to provide employment on public works.

The steps that the Hoover administration took to fight the early challenges of the Great Depression were the following: calling for immediate federal funding to support financial institutions troubled by bank runs and creating a series of federal programs to provide employment on public works.

President Hoover was criticized by many because he really did not offer a real solution to the thousands of people that had no jobs and were living under harsh economic conditions due to the Great Depression that started when the US stock market crashed on October 29, 1929. The help really came with President Franklin D. Roosevelt, who created the New Deal, a series of programs aimed to help the poor American citizens.

The 300 years of a period called the Dark Ages in Ancient Greece, was characterized by
ASHA 777 [7]

Answer:

Correct answer is C. No written records .

Explanation:

C is the correct answer because after the Mycenaean civilization we have a period that lasted between 1 100 BC and 750 BC and is characterized by lack or practically total disappearance of any written records on this period.

A and B are not correct as we have enough material sources that are telling us about the still alive trade links between different areas in that period, which leads to the conclusion that people in that period to function. Thus, D also is not correct.
