Michelangelo, the famous Italian sculptor and painter is one of the best examples of an artist who is both a gifted painter and sculptor. His best known sculpture is that of the statue of David. Michelangelo is also the painter who got a commission from Pope Julius II to paint the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. This painting still is one of the main attractions for visiting tourists at the Vatican City.
