Who comes to Theseus to air a grievance? What does this person want Theseus to do? Why does Hermia disobey her father? What do L
Cerrena [4.2K]

Answer:

Egeus comes to ask Theseus to make his daughter Hermia, marry Demetrius even though she wants to marry Lysander. She wants to marry Lysander. Lysander and Hermia say that both Lysander and Demetrius have money and they have the same title, but Lysander also has Hermia's love, not to mention Demetrius made Hermia's best friend fall in love with him then dumped her. Their pleas do not convince Theseus as he takes Hermia's father's side and gives Hermia three options either to marry Demetrius, become a nun, or to be put to death.

Why does Shirley Jackson lump the lottery in with “square dances, the teen club [and] the Halloween program”? (paragraph 4)
Nutka1998 [239]

It begins by informing the reader that the day is lovely and sunny. Before the day is over, someone will be stoned to death even if everything seems normal and perfect. The lottery, square dances, the teen club, and the Halloween event were all organized by Mr. Summers.

The lottery is a metaphor for everything that is unquestioningly accepted and followed from one generation to the next, no matter how absurd, strange, or cruel it may be. Since as long as anyone can remember, the community has held a lottery. Jackson introduces irony early in the narrative. She gives the impression that the lottery is an enjoyable celebration for the townspeople.

1) Can you think of a situation where well-being is a dream and not a reality?
SVEN [57.7K]

Answer:

Find the explanation below.

Explanation:

1. Well-being is the state of being healthy, comfortable, and happy. When a person is seriously ill due to an accident or disease, well-being then proves to be a dream and not a reality. As the patient groans in his predicament and longs to get back on his feet, at that point, well-being becomes a dream instead of a reality.

2. I do not think that it is possible to be happy without being content. Happiness comes with contentment. A content person is satisfied with the little he or she possesses and is therefore happy no matter the situation he finds himself. For example, an individual who does not have much materially but still is satisfied with the little he has while maintaining a positive spirit. But a very rich person that lacks contentment may never attain happiness because he would always struggle for more.

Paraphin [41]

Answer and explanation:

This is a passeage from a book called "1984" written by George Orwell and it is considered part of the classic literature. This is a political novel that is about  how a citizen, a regular and ordinary man who goes by the name of Winston Smith is tired of how the government controls everyone in order for them to have them (the citizens) acting and thinking and living the way they (the government) want. He does not want to be part of that toxic behaviour, so he revels against the government.
