Samuel Johnson was an english writer who made lasting contributions to English literature as poet, playwright, essayist, moralist, literary critic, biographer, editor and lexicographer.

He attended to Pembroke College in Oxford but just fo one year due to lack of funding that forced him to leave. He worked as a teacher and after that he moved to London and began to wrote for a magazine named "The Gentleman´s Magazine". Besides for that he also wrote poetry, a play and a biography about Mr. Richard Savage.

After nine years of work he published "A Dictionary of The English Language" on 1755. Untill the completion of the "Oxford English Dictionary" 150 years later Johnson´s was the pre-eminent british dictionary.

For the information I have given above we can infer that the only thing Samuel Johnson did not write was a story about himself (B). This can be misunderstood because, actually, the biography of Johnson was written by a friend of him named James Boswell. The biography´s name was "The Life Of  Samuel Johnson" and the subject of the book was inevitably attached to it so there is where it could be a confusion.

Johnson´s work is the second most quoted in the british literature righ after Shakespeare´s. In the years following his death he began to be recognised as having had a lasting effect on literary criticism, and he was claimed by some to be the only truly great critic of English Literature.

I hope that the answer is clear and help you. Regards.

In The Pearl, why does Kino start hearing the "Song of Evil"?
deff fn [24]

Answer:

The townspeople turn against Kino as greed takes over, and everyone wants the valuable pearl. Kino hears the Song of Evil, and it becomes a metaphor, a comparison, to the scorpion that stings Coyotito. The Song of Evil is the symbol of the family's destruction and the pain that follows the bite of the scorpion.

(To Kill a Mockingbird)
Leno4ka [110]

Answer:

I do not think that Mr Gilmer's line of questions was in pursuit of truth and justice

Explanation:

Mr Gilmer was the prosecuting lawyer in the case of Tom Robinson, a black African American man who was accused of raping and strangulating a white American lady.

As the prosecuting counsel, Mr Gilmer's responsibility was to prove that Mr Tom Robinson was guilty as charged. However his lines of questioning displayed a very unprofessional, unethical as well as racially inclined personality

He was consistently rude to the accused, calling him a boy even on one occasion.

His racist tendencies was revealed when under pressure Mr Tom Robinson said he felt sorry for Mayella, the white lady who he was accused of raping. Mr Gilmer gleefully took advantage of the situation and asked rhetorically how could a black man feel sorry for a white lady; suggesting that a black person was inferior to a white person and hence, could not be feeling sorry for her unless he had ulterior motives.

Hence I do not think that considering his line of questioning, that he was after true justice.
